We were asked to pitch for the design contract for Fuzz Club in 2008 / 09. We won the pitch and were then charged with creating a year's worth of promotional material for the weekly Fuzz Club, and the various one off events that occur during the year. It was quite an open brief, with the main requirements being the use of the yellow and white stripes and incorporating hand drawn elements.
We decided to go down the physical (rather than electronic) collage route, which resulted in several days spent cutting and gluing yellow strips onto white card, drawing various items and collecting other objects that would become part of the collages. These were laid out and photographed, with the text being added later on the computer.
Each collage was used for a couple of months before being swapped out for a new one. This allowed us to respond to the artists that were being booked and also other things such as customer feedback and the time of year.
Response to the material has been generally good, with the market research coming back positive.
